BarCampSydney 2 – August 25th

BarCampSydney 2 will take place at UTS (Building 10) on August 25th, 2007. It’s a free event running from 9am and until about 5pm that anyone can attend. If you went to BCS1 then you’ll know it’s a great way to meet people, find out what they’re doing/what’s new and let other people know what you’re up to. If you don’t want to present then there will still be plenty of opportunities to participate.

With just short of 50 people already signed up it looks like this one will be bigger than last time (which had 200 people). Check out the BarCampSydney blog for more information.

PS: We’re looking for more sponsors (so far Code Gear and Tangler have chipped in). If you’re interested in sponsoring the event or a post event drinks then email the organisers.

Earlier this year 200 people attended the first BarCampSydney held at UTS. If you’re not familiar with BarCamp it’s an ad-hoc gathering (unconference) for people to share and learn in an open environment. Think of all those conferences you’ve attend and how often the best bits don’t happen during sessions but when people get together between sessions. That’s BarCamp

At BCS we promised to organise another one later this year. Planning for BarCampSydney 2 is now well under way. If you’re interested in going to BCS2 then follow the BarCampSydney – Signup link and add your name so we can email you with more info. There’s also a Facebook group called BarCampSydney.

BarCamp Sydney will be held at UTS Building 10 on Saturday March 3, 2007. This is the first BarCamp to be held in Sydney and will be part of BarCamp Australia.
Note: The Sydney event is only going to be ONE day, not two like the other cities.

I’m still thinking about what I’m going to present but the current favourite is “Disruptive technology: What PHP *must* learn from Ruby on Rails”.
